Revised OGP 317 is Endorsed by Global HSE & Security Steering Committee
Beginning in February 2008, the IAGC and OGP have been collaboratively working on updating OGP 317 Guidelines – Managing HSE in a Geophysical Contract. The IAGC Global HSE & Security Steering Committee formed an OGP 317 Task Group consisting of WesternGeco, CGGVeritas, PGS, Fairfield Industries, Fugro, Global Geophysical and EMGS representatives, to represent IAGC in the update process and to ensure that seismic operations have been adequately addressed in the updated OGP 317 Guidelines. The Global HSE & Security Steering Committee members were asked back in December 2008 to review the then current draft revised OGP 317 document and submit their comments to the OGP 317 Editors by January 15, 2009. The Committee members were prompt and they were meticulous – nearly 200 individual comments and suggestions were received and addressed by the OGP Editors.
Charles Jeffrey (PGS), Chairman of the Global HSE & Security Steering Committee is pleased to announce that final draft of OGP 317 has been approved by the IAGC OGP 317 Task Group, as well as by the Steering Committee members and has been recommended to the IAGC Board of Directors for approval and IAGC’s endorsement. Board action is expected in coming weeks.
All IAGC member companies are the beneficiaries of the experience and expertise – as well as vigilance – provided by the IAGC OGP 317 Task Group and the Global HSE & Security Steering Committee members in the OGP 317 update process. Thank you to all who contributed to this process.
